Yogesh Mehta was born in Kampala, Uganda. He received his early education in Kampala before continuing his studies at Chippenham and later at Trowbridge College in Wiltshire, graduating in 1974. During this period, his exceptional leadership qualities were recognized, as demonstrated by his election as President of the Student Union at Trowbridge College in his final year.
Following his successful academic career, at the age of twenty, he joined a UK-based conglomerate, where he worked for three years. During this time, he rose to the position of Export Manager within the company’s major shipping and forwarding division.
In 1977, he formed a partnership with an American entrepreneur, Frank Grace, and together they established Amertrans Shipping, a company specializing in international relocation and transportation services.
In 2007, Yogesh acquired SIRVA’s European moving operations, effectively doubling the size of the business. He subsequently rebranded the organization as The Team Group, incorporating Team Relocations, TEAM Allied, and several leading regional brands.
Pickfords, originally founded in 1646, was acquired by Yogesh in 2008. He currently serves as the Owner and Group Managing Director.
Yogesh has always derived a strong sense of well-being and personal satisfaction from successfully competing in the service industry, which he considers his core area of expertise, although he has also expanded into other sectors.

The success of his companies has enabled Yogesh to actively support his community and a wide range of charitable causes. As a philanthropist, he played a key role in the establishment of the Jain Temple in Leicester and served as Chairman of Navnat Youth, later becoming a Trustee of the Navnat Vanik Association.
He has also held positions as a Board Member of the NSPCC Full Stop Campaign, a member of the University of Hertfordshire Development Committee, and a member of the Young Presidents’ Organisation.
In addition, Yogesh supports various charitable initiatives in India aimed at improving opportunities and development for young people. Through his companies, he has contributed to organizations such as the NSPCC, the British Heart Foundation, wildlife conservation charity Tusk, and WellChild, which provides essential support to seriously ill children being cared for at home by their families.
